Charming atmosphere, but needs updates
The atmosphere of the hotel felt captivating and historic, and the staff were genuinely friendly and eager to assist. I enjoyed a pleasant rooftop terrace to watch the sunset over the city.
The facility itself has seen better days. The rooms and amenities require some maintenance. The air conditioning was a bit outdated, and the breakfast offered limited variety. Noise from the busy street could be disruptive at times.

Oh, the crisp salads and culinary finds around the area were a delight! I treated myself to a casual bite at La Choperia Del Puerto, just a stone's throw away. The hotel itself offers a lovely breakfast spread with freshly scrambled eggs and a friendly atmosphere that feels cozy and cute. Plus, the spacious and stylish guest lounge was perfect for kicking back after a day of exploring.

The Palace in Asuncion has a unique historical charm that really appealed to me. The building was beautiful, and the atmosphere felt special. My room was clean and cozy, with a lovely terrace that was peaceful. I appreciated the friendly service from staff, especially Cirilo, who helped with my luggage and gave great local dining recommendations. The breakfast included freshly cooked eggs and toasties, a simple yet satisfying start to the day. On the downside, the air-conditioning was quite strong. The bathroom had some minor maintenance issues, but nothing that affected my overall comfort. I enjoyed my stay, but with a few updates, the experience could be even better.

Despite being an "old" hotel the rooms were very clean and fresh, and everything worked. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Although their knowledge of English is limited (and my knowledge of Spanish even less) the staff managed to solve all my difficulties, eg post office, banks, laundry etc. The hotel charges, mini bar/room service/laundry are very reasonable - no cheap, compared to my experience of other hotels in this class. On both occasions laundry was processed and returned within a few hours. Breakfast selection good and plentiful. There was a full range even at 09:30.

The kids had a blast at the rooftop terrace, and we enjoyed the beautiful views of Asuncion. The room was clean and cozy for our family, with friendly staff like Cirilo making our stay extra special.
My wife says that it could use more family-friendly activities.

For an old hotel, it has been very nicely remodeled, but some of the charm has been kept in the shuttered french doors and colonnaded balcony. The breakfast buffet is extensive. Rooms are spacious and clean, bathrooms are modern, and the price is right for a hotel like this.
